I love Velvia, but I live in a very bright area (Texas) where light is usually harsh and Velvia often casts a blue haze on things. This recipe grew out of a desire to create as much of a general-purpose Velvia look as I could and kill the blue haze. I think I have accomplished that. I also wanted to make it contrasty; the harsh light kind of demands it. With the shadows as strong as I have them, I can usually push even very bright scenes to 1 and sometimes higher. Every once in a while, I have to drop back to -1/3 or -2/3, but those are pretty rare.
